Twisted Sisters Bake Shop had me dreaming of their fresh cream cakes, and a little bird told me that The Auslander is a local gem with hearty German fare. Plus, the location is a stone's throw from downtown, making it easy to stroll over and hit up the best spots in town.

Now, I can’t sugarcoat it—the whole place could use a good scrub. Our room was dirty with a floor that made you think twice about walking barefoot. The bathroom? Yikes! The tub was filthy and the sink had a leak that made a puddle dance on the floor. We definitely saw better days!

We explored Pedernales Brewing Company and hiked at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park. The breakfast was nice and the beds were comfortable. It’s close to everything you want to see, so you can walk to Main Street easily.
